You’re planning your wedding, have a million things to do and think about and this is all new to you. DOn’t worry, I got you. When it comes to the first real communication with you and your photographer, it will be a more productive call if you have a few questions ready. Rather than what some other sites may say, like ask what kind of gear they have, how long they have been a photographer etc. Does that really help YOU when planning your dream wedding and gallery? No. Having a plan, a vision and exceptions ready will really take the call to another level.
Step one, know the venue, the date and possibly the wedding planner and budget set aside for photography. We can’t lock down a date until the venue is secured first because they hold the power to available dates. Once we know the vibe of the venue, we will know how to measure out the day to start a rough draft timeline.
Have you thought about the energy on the wedding day? Every couple is so different in the way they are with each other and their guests. Do you want lots of romantic couple shots keeping it intimate? Fun playful movement shots? More focus on the party and candid shots? Do you want little shots of the two of you so you can be with guests or do you want to be pulled away for small bits of time to capture those beautiful moments on your day?
What are you most excited about for your wedding day? What shots are the most important to capture and what do you want to absolutely not miss? Are the details a highlight for you? Or maybe your mom is visiting from Spain and you want to do a special first look with her along with some extra portraits. Do you want to focus a part of the day on family formals or skip past that and keep it documentary-style?
It’s helpful to make a mental note of how things flowed for you as the guest. Tell me what you did like a lot and really stuck and maybe some things you didn’t like and to avoid.
I am here for you. I want to make this day and gallery as easy as possible for you in every way and go the extra mile. Feel free to make any requests that would make you feel more comfortable in your wedding photography. I am more than happy to communicate as much or little as possible, chat with the parents before booking, the wedding planner and answer any questions for them. Don’t be shy! This is a special day and you’re spending a lot of money on this wedding and you’ll be spending a lot of time on the day of with the photographer. So, let’s create the most magical day that you’ll remember forever.
